What’s actually in Australian tap water?  ▾

Australian tap water meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Many households still choose filtration to improve taste and reduce specific substances they prefer to minimise, including disinfectant residuals, fluoride, metals and fine particles.

Chlorine + chloramine

Used by water utilities to disinfect drinking water. They can contribute to the characteristic taste and smell of tap water.

Trinity reduces chlorine by >99.9% and chloramine by 99.0%.

Fluoride

Questions worth asking

Is it lab tested?

Yes. The filter media inside Glass Trinity was tested by AS Enviro, an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. It cut fluoride by 99.5%, chlorine and lead by more than 99.9%, and chloramine by 99.0%.

How often do I change the cartridge?

About every 3 to 4 months, depending on how much you use and the quality of your water source. If the taste changes earlier than that, swap it sooner. Swapping takes a minute, no tools.

How do I look after the glass and bamboo?

Hand wash the glass gently rather than putting it in the dishwasher. Wipe the bamboo lid and stand and dry them promptly instead of soaking them. Keep the whole thing out of direct sunlight, since light plus standing water encourages algae.

Can I use it in a rental?

Yes. Nothing is drilled, plumbed or wired in, so it sits on the bench and moves house with you. Dimensions are: 20cm (L) x 20cm (W) x 43cm (H).

Can I put hot water through it?

No. Glass Trinity is made for cold water only. Hot water damages both the filter media and the glass, and that isn't covered by the guarantee.

Does it handle chloramine, not just chlorine?

Yes. Chloramine is what several Australian networks use instead of chlorine, and the filter media reduced it by 99.0% in independent lab testing.

What does the lifetime guarantee actually cover?

The filter system itself, for as long as your refill subscription is active. If it cracks, leaks or stops filtering under normal use, we replace it free and we pay the shipping. It doesn't cover the cartridges themselves, since those are consumable, or damage from dropping it or running hot water through it. There's no claim form. Email us and a real person sorts it out.

Do I have to subscribe, and what if I cancel?

You don't have to subscribe at all. Buy the system outright and order cartridges one at a time whenever you need them. Subscribing just means refills turn up on schedule with free shipping, and your lifetime cover stays active. You keep your filter either way. If you cancel, nothing happens to your system, the lifetime cover simply pauses until you restart. Skip, pause or cancel any time from your account.
